Qualitative Interview Guide

Develop or review your qualitative interview guide through dialog. Bring your ideas, discuss suggestions, and shape the questions together.

Qualitative Interview Guide plugin: blue and aqua speech bubbles

Public release in preparation. This page introduces the ChatGPT plugin. A public ChatGPT access link will be added when it is available.

Created by Dr. Susanne Friese / QualiDialog, Qualitative Interview Guide supports the thoughtful preparation of qualitative interviews. Start with your interview aim and the people you want to speak with, or bring an existing guide for review.

Develop a new guide

Work from your topic, interview aim, and target group toward a flexible guide with open, understandable questions. Refine the sequence, prompts, and follow-up questions through dialogue.

Review an existing guide

Examine individual questions or a complete guide for clarity, openness, relevance, and flow. Discuss suggested revisions and keep the wording that fits your project and participants.

Bring your project context

In the ChatGPT conversation, you can upload a project description or share a short summary of your study. For a review, add your existing interview guide. Explain whom you plan to interview, what you want to understand, and any practical constraints. You do not need a fully developed research question to begin.

Start in your preferred language

Simply start the conversation in the language you want to use, as you normally would in ChatGPT. The plugin follows your language; there is no separate language selection. You can work in any language supported by ChatGPT, use different languages for the conversation and the interview guide, or switch languages as you go. Review the wording for your intended participants.

Keep research decisions in your hands

The plugin supports drafting and reflection. Review every suggestion against your research purpose, participants, and ethical commitments, and pilot your guide before using it in the field. AI suggestions can be incomplete or unsuitable.
